We have all heard of the common button mushrooms which we use in our pasta dishes but the mushroom family is vast and richly diverse with many medicinal properties.

Did you know that the antibiotic Penicillin is derived from Mushrooms?  

New research is showing a large variety of mushrooms like Reshi mushroom and Lion's mane to useful supplement in improving the immune system.

So why would we use mushrooms as medicine? 

Did you know that mushrooms have actually been used as medicine for hundreds of years in traditional cultures? And today the Medical world is taking mushrooms very seriously.

With research institutes like John Hopkins University and the Berkley Foundation spear heading research into the medicinal properties of mushrooms. 

These clinical trials are experimenting with the how medicinal mushrooms can help to

Did you know that even the common button  and Portobello mushroom is the only source of vegetarian B12 and reduces oxidative damage by restoring glutathione and antioxidant enzyme levels which all support neural health. 

In several studies the common mushroom has even been proven to reduce inflammation. 

Theres more, mushrooms like Lion's Mane and Reshi are being studied more closely for their medicinal properties. 

Lion's Mane has been shown to increase nerve growth factor (NGF) which helps nerve and brain cells grow and repair. 

Because of this "brain effect" Lion's Mane is being considered as one of the most promising  preventative treatments for Alzheimer's Disease and dementia as well as depression and anxiety. In addition to having many other immune functions and anti cancer properties.

Our next mushroom is known as a Cordycep it is a traditional mushroom found in Tibet with immense medicinal qualities. It is adaptogenic, anti aging, anticancer and has immune modulating properties.
